Merton Center Restricted Fund

The Merton Center Restricted Fund was established in 2000 to provide funds solely for the preservation of materials in the Thomas Merton Center, and the acquisition of additional Merton and Merton-related materials as they become available.

The Merton Center holds over 45,000 items by and about Thomas Merton. These include Merton's

• correspondence
• private holographic journals
• holographic reading notebooks
• holographic manuscripts
• mimeographs of Merton documents
• published articles, essays and books
• calligraphic drawings
• photographs and negatives
• audio conferences
• setting copies of Merton's manuscripts

To ensure the preservation of these materials for future generations various techniques must be undertaken - digitization, de-acidification, the use of appropriate archival storage mediums and so forth. The Merton Center Restricted Fund exists to provide the financial resources necessary to undertake this work.
